The concept of the beautiful is a fragile construct. In a world oriented towards efficiency and profit, beauty becomes an abstract category that increasingly serves as the presentation and packaging for other things.

The exhibition “Therefore Beautiful” centers on contemporary art that is aware of the ambivalence of the beautiful and its construed nature. The beautiful is not seen as a self-complacent category, but understood in its different functionalizations. The illusion of the beautiful is thus allowed to retain its fascination.
