Brannon has created an inventive visual language which the observer can easily recognize independent of the material medium. At the first glance, his work always conveys an elegance but there still is a sense of danger behind the cultivated surface.
Matthew Brannon will unveil his biggest exhibition to date in Europe at the Ursula Blickle Foundation. The focus of the exhibition is on works with a close relation to the gastronomic world. For years, Brannon has developed graphical pieces of work that remind of menus and glamorous invitations but that also always convey a sense of threat. Furthermore, a series of gastronomic events titled "This dinner is a group show" will be held under the motto "Every set table is an exhibition".
Among the contributors to the first event in New York were Sebastian Brecht, Paul Chan, Spencer Finch, Carsten Höller and Joan Sallas. The exhibition at the Ursula Blickle Foundation will be a single exhibition of Matthew Brannon and also a project to which many artists have contributed and that takes place at several locations.
